Raleigh North Carolina

Raleigh is the second largest city and state capital of North Carolina. It is known as the “City of Oaks” for its many oak trees.

Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill make up the three historically primary cities of the Research Triangle metropolitan region. The regional nickname of “The Triangle” originated after the 1959 creation of the Research Triangle Park, located between the cities.

The PNC Arena is home to the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League and the North Carolina State University Wolfpack men's basketball team.

The Raleigh Convention Center is a convention and exhibition facility in downtown Raleigh, opened in September 2008. The west-facing wall boasts a large public art piece called the Shimmer Wall. It is a series of panels lit by multicolored LED lights from behind, which undulates in the wind.

Also in 2008, the city’s Fayetteville Street Historic District joined the National Register of Historic Places.

Raleigh has been prominently featured in several “Top 10 Lists,” including those by Forbes, MSNBC and Money Magazine, due to its quality of life and business climate.
