German Read-Aloud Day with Rostock & Raleigh Mayors
The Rostock Public Library is celebrating German Read-Aloud Day on November 20 and they have asked Raleigh Mayor Baldwin to participate virtually. Mayors of both cities will read aloud to German and American children with the goal of making global connections during the pandemic.

- Mayor Mary Ann Baldwin was elected to office in late 2019 after serving five terms as a City Council Member. She also is a Member on the NC Governor's Council on Entrepreneurship, the Co-founder and Chair of the Advisory Board for Innovate Raleigh (a catalyst for innovation and entrepreneurship in our region), a Member Board of Trustees, William Peace University (Raleigh, NC) and a Member of the Board of Directors, Wake Tech Foundation.
- The Lord Mayor Claus Ruhe Madsen became the first non-German to win the office in a major German city in 2019. The OberBürgermeister first moved to Rostock in 1997, has established several local companies and retail stores, and previously served as the president of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
