Recap of Courir de Mardi Gras: A Food Drive for the NCSU Pantry

Rooted in French medieval history and brought to Louisiana in the 19th century, Courir de Mardi Gras is a tradition of masked, costumed participants making their way from house to house collecting ingredients for a communal gumbo.

For our 2021 celebration, we asked friends around Raleigh to join in the spirit of Mardi Gras by sharing abundance with a food drive for Feed the Pack, as the recipient of our collection. Feed the Pack is a community-based initiative to combat food insecurity experienced by members of the NCSU student body.

Thanks to their generosity and the efforts of the Compiegne volunteers, we raised $335 in donations along with a full trunk of supplies to contribute.
