Say YES to Rostock

Raleigh’s sister city, Rostock, is celebrating love and loyalty with their campaign “Say YES to Rostock”

Contest deadline is  now April 1, 2018

From June 22-25, 2018, Rostock is celebrating their city's 800th anniversary.  As part of the celebration, Rostock is inviting one lucky couple from Raleigh to renew their wedding vows under the first German wedding crane, the “Hellingkran”. The couple’s stay in this beautiful baltic city will also highlight a ride on a maritime ship, concerts, a parade and after party.

The couple will receive accommodations in the seaside resort of Warnemünde, which is home to their famous white beaches and historic lighthouse a short distance from Rostock’s historic city center.

Interested couples should become members of Raleigh Sister Cities and fill out this short lottery ticket. Couples are responsible for their travel to and from Rostock with a small stipend from Raleigh Sister Cities.

Rostock is the gateway to Northern Europe on the banks of the River Warnow approximately two hours north of Berlin. Rostock is home to the oldest university in continental northern Europe, The University of Rostock, founded in 1419. It also has a substantial commercial shipbuilding industry and a history of port life as part of the Hanseatic City Ring on the Baltic Sea. The Harbor invites visitors to linger and connects Rostock to Scandinavia and the eastern countries bordering on the Baltic. The city is home to the annual Hanse Sail festival, when many large sailing ships and museum vessels are brought out to sea. Its location on the Baltic coastline makes Rostock one of the most attractive tourist destination in Germany for sailors, bicyclists, beach goers, and nature lovers alike.
