Welcome to the Sister Cities Association of Raleigh, North Carolina. We are a nonprofit organization that seeks to promote friendship and understanding between the people of Raleigh and it’s Sister Cities. We are a cooperating member of Sister Cities International whose mission is:

“Promoting peace through mutual respect,
understanding and cooperation—one individual,
one community at a time.”

The organization was founded in 1956 under the leadership of President Eisenhower, and now represents more than 2,500 partnerships in 143 countries on six continents. Raleigh began its efforts in 1986, and has had relationships with 5 cities in Africa, Asia, and Europe. Currently we have active partnerships with five cities in China, England, France, Germany, and Kenya. Our goal is to reach out to others as interests and resources develop to support the partnerships.

Our aim is to enable the citizens of Raleigh and it’s Sister Cities to exchange ideas and experiences in the areas of education, culture, the arts, and economics, and to promote exchanges between the cities. We are governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership. Members are welcome at Board meetings, which are held quarterly. Membership is open to all who are interested in promoting and fostering the aims of the organization.
